My mother and my brothers are those who believe.
Throughout the weeks Jesus’ focus was on the Word as seed, light, the power to heal, forgiveness, raising the dead to life, and casting out demons. Also, one does not cover the truth under a bowl or bed.
Today Jesus’ family, comes and calls him to come home, but that’s not important to him. He challenges us his people into deeper, faith-relationship with the risen Lord. “My mother and brothers are those who hear the word and put it into practice”.
He calls us into a radical involvement and relationship with Him. He calls us to live and act in the power of the Word.
He is saying the Word has a crucial effect and he desires us to live and abandon ourselves to its power.
That’s what he is looking for: radical, faith filled relationship over and above blood relationship. He is calling us to have a faith filled relationship,
“My mother and my brothers are those who believe,” Jesus says and he
is inviting us into that family today.
