Maraval RC sanitised, swabs taken from pupils

The Maraval RC school, the Our Lady of Lourdes RC Maraval and the Our Lady of Guadalupe Paramin were “thoroughly sanitised” Tuesday, July 28 after a Standard Five pupil of the primary school tested positive for COVID-19.

COVID-19 swabbing began July 27 on the staff and the pupils of the Standard Five Class who were being prepared for August 20 Secondary Entrance Assessment examination; the exercise was expected to be completed today August 4. The children and their parents were instructed to go into self-quarantine at home. Up to July 31, results came back that three other children tested positive from swabbing done July 29. Their families were informed and arrangements made for each child accompanied by a guardian to go to the Caura Hospital. Swabbing was also done on other household members from the three homes. It was completed for all teachers and cleaners and specimens were sent to the Caribbean Public Health Agency for testing.
