That light from within radiates outward and becomes so bright that they wonder who you are. Remember you are a faithful servant of the Lord.
Sunrise and sunset, what a beautiful sight to behold. This magic happens each and every day of our lives. Some may consider the science behind it but it signifies the beginning and end of a passing day. As each day ends, you plan for a new day whether you consciously believe it or not. It does not matter if you did the same thing the day before, we count the previous day forgotten, lost, gone, non-existent.
The question is do we value our life as the days that pass us by?
Many can boast of all our life’s achievements, successes, rise and falls, but what remains a fact is that what is of importance to you in life may not be for me. This is where we discover our many differences.
There is such an exciting feeling that I get each and every day I am blessed with life. Simply because a new day has begun, a new journey has begun. My day most importantly starts off with gratitude because without God this day would not be possible, and I make it my duty to show Him how grateful I am in all that I do.
‘God loves you as you are, he does not love because of your possessions or because you have no possessions, he loves you because you are his creation’.
Sometimes we truly let our status in society, our community change the way in which we put value on life. Many of us would have visited places and because of the environment, we think right there and then that we are a wrong fit to that environment. Unfortunately, we cannot put that logic towards the value of life. “In all truth I tell you, no servant is greater than his master, no messenger is greater than the one who sent him” (Jn 13:16).
You are as important as I am, we are equal in the face of God. “You must love your neighbour as yourself” (Mk 12:31). There was this man a regular taxi driver to me, and one day on my way home, he decided to engage me in a conversation and express his sadness with a situation in his life. Rather than be stunned by this man’s trust in me, I offered comforting words towards his situation. He asked for advice and I gave him my honest opinion on the matter. It mattered not what was the circumstance or how well I knew him, but that I was able to listen to his thoughts. I reassured him that all will be well. Despite how tired I was from a day’s work, I listened attentively. Can you remember what was your act of humility today? “Nothing is to be done out of jealousy or vanity; instead, out of humility of mind everyone should give preference to others” (Phil 2:3)
We see each other smile everyday but we cannot tell what troubles one faces in their lives. I asked myself what made him feel comfortable to speak to me about such matter and then I
remembered it was the light that was shining so bright. “You must love one another just as I have loved you” (Jn 13:34).
Continue to let your light shine and remember that “there is no favouritism with God” (Rom 2:11). Let peace and love shine through you!
