Guadeloupe bishop has COVID-19

Bishop Jean-Yves Riocreux of the Diocese of Basse-Terre and Pointe-à-Pitre, Guadeloupe has COVID-19.

A December 21 press release on the diocese’s Facebook page, and posted to the website of the Antilles Episcopal Conference (aecbishops.org) stated that Bishop Riocreux tested positive for the virus on December 16 and was immediately placed in isolation at the bishop’s residence.

According to a medical report the bishop said he felt fatigued. The diocese called on the Catholic community to pray for Bishop Riocreux’s recovery
