St Croix’s ‘Fr Mike’ celebrates golden jubilee

Brooklyn-born Msgr Michael Kosak celebrates his 50th anniversary of ordination to the priesthood on June 6. To mark the occasion, a special golden jubilee edition of his book Journey of a Homeboy, first published in paperback January 2008, has been reprinted. Fr Mike, as he is known, is a retired diocesan priest of  St Croix, US Virgin Islands, and has been a frequent visitor to Trinidad since 1974, when he attended a meeting of the Antilles Episcopal Conference at Mt St Benedict, with Archbishop Samuel Carter and many priests.

He experienced the Baptism of the Holy Spirit at St Benet Hall, Mt St Benedict, in January 1977. He was a member of the Catholic Charismatic Renewal (CCR) Caribbean Service Team from 1979–1996, serving with then Abbot Bernard Vlaar OSB and Fr Ildefons Schroots OSB. He served as Spiritual Director of the Regional Seminary of st John Vianney and the Uganda Martyrs, 1990-1991.
