On Sunday, November 18, The Grant-a-Wish Foundation will be celebrating 10 years and it continues to bring the magic and goodwill of Christmas with its Santa Claus Parade.
President of the Republic of Trinidad & Tobago, Her Excellency Paula Mae Weekes, and former First Lady Zalayhar Hassanali, who has supported the Foundation for over five years will attend the parade and together with all the participants “creating magic and changing lives one wish at a time”.
The Foundation grants wishes to children between the ages of three years to 17 years who suffer with life-threatening illnesses and to date they have granted 48 wishes inclusive of three wishes to children from Grenada. They are affiliated with the Precious Touch Foundation of Barbados and the Give Kids the World Village of Florida.
The Parade starts at 3 p.m. at the Queen’s Park Savannah, upper Frederick Street and ends opposite White Hall. There will be Santa’s sleigh, a live Nativity Scene and costumed characters. Mounted Branch police officers will be dressed as King Arthur’s Knights of the Round Table.
Caribbean Theatre Productions will also be producing excerpts from Broadway musicals including Grease, Footloose, Mary Poppins, Les Miserables and Beauty and The Beast.
Rent-a-Fantasy’s Kids Zone will be fun for the young ones—including bouncy castles and pony rides. Also available will be Santa’s Treats of hot dogs, popcorn, snow cones, pastelles, burgers, wings and fries and more.The event will literally end with a bang with a fireworks display by Fire One Fireworks!
