The Marriage Encounter (ME) movement in Suriname celebrated its 30th anniversary with a May 4–6 convention at the retreat centre Asewa Otono, Paramaribo under the theme De Verborgen Schat (The Hidden Treasure). Suriname ME team couples Bianca and Remi Mohamatsaid, Glen and Miliza Chin A Feong and Ronald and Cynthia Grunberg coordinated the weekend. Present at the convention were Trinidadians Fr Ashton Pierre CSSp, ME Caribbean Team Coordinating Priest and ME Caribbean Team Coordinators Malcolm and Lynn Joab. Five ME couples from neighbouring Guyana also attended to support their neighbours, including Coordinators Robin and Sharon Roberts.

Day one of the convention included a presentation on ‘The Hidden Treasure of ME Suriname’ done by Vicar General Fr Esteban Kross and the Mohamatsaid’s.
