The Adult Drama Ministry of the San Fernando Cluster last weekend staged ‘The Resurrection’ at Christ the King RC, Les Efforts, a drama based on Chapter 24 of the Gospel of Luke. The script was written by theatre veteran Jemma Allong-Redman.
President of the Parish Council Victor Young On said although the play was verbatim from the scripture there was some “dramatic licence to get the message across”.
In an interview he said Allong-Redman went to Fr Martin Sirju, Moderator of the San Fernando/Mon Repos/La Romaine/Pointe-a-Pierre Cluster, with the idea and he supported the drama production. “He felt, the Word of God if portrayed properly could be a good evangelisation tool,” Young On said.
Rehearsals began in the middle of February at Christ the King RC and 24 persons including technical contributors were involved. Young On got the part of Cleopas, one of the two disciples encountering Jesus on the road to Emmaus. He felt “privileged” to be part of ‘The Resurrection’ and in his retirement years exploring the talents God has given. Young On said the play carried the big Easter message. “We hope through our production our audience can experience that encounter with the Risen Christ.”
